Transparency is one of the most important features of democracy because the government is accountable to the people, its needs and their expectations. This is because when citizens have to govern their own affairs, either directly or through representative government, they must be informed about how best to determine their affairs. Also they should have an idea as to how in a best possible manner can they represent and execute the affairs. If citizens are not well informed, they can neither act in their own self-interest nor will they be able to choose any serious and right individual in elections. This in a way also helps in reduction of corruption.

◆ it makes a democracy even more democratic as people have the right to information about any of the practice of government.
