the process thought which the water from the plants is lost in the former of water vapours through the surface of leaves is known as transpiration.

Ascent of sap on the other hand is transpiration pull in which the water moves up through the xylem vessels and reaches the leaf ..

transpiration gets affected by the external factors such as humidity .. temperature. . wind etc .. but not ascent of sap ! ..
