transpiration is a necessary evil because though it's loss of water but it helps in good rain.and saves the plant in case of water logging.if transportation doesn't take place plants would die.

1) it provides water for photosynthesis
2) keeps the cell turgid
3) keeps the surface of the leaves cool( due to evaportion )
4) creates transpirational pull for transport
5)transport materials from soil to all part of the plant .
