Such as  Creating transpirational pull for transport,  Supplies water for photosynthesis,  Transports minerals from the soil to all parts of a plant , Cools the surface of the leaves  , Keeps the cells turgid; hence, maintains their shape. Since it causes water to lose it is evil but it is also necessary for several functions including transpiration pull. .hence it is called a necessary evil.
