Transpiration : loss of water from leaves (by opening of stomata) in the form of water vapor from the plant out into the atmosphere .

Significance of transpiration :

1. removes excess of water.

2. open stomata automatically causes gaseous exchange too.

3. accelerates upward conduction of water and dissolved minerals.

4. transpiration pull causes more absorption of water from soil by roots.

5. causes cooling effect and thus reduces temperature of leaves.
