Roots and stems are plant organ which contain "Transport system" of a plant.They have thin tubes inside them which carry liquids up and down the plant called "Xylem" and "Pholem".

"Xylem" tubes carry water and minerals from the soil up to the parts  of the plant above the ground. Xylem is a dead tissue.

Pholem:
