Water is transported faster during daytime because rate of transpiration is higher during daytime. Transpiration takes place through stomata. Stomata remain open during daytime for gaseous exchanges for photosynthesis and respiration. So transpiration rate is higher. Transpiration creates a water pressure in xylem( water conducting tissue) . This transpiration pressure pulls water column from roots through stem to leaves. The entire xylem in plants from root to leaves forms a continuous channel. So higher the rate of transpiration from leaves more the water will be transported from roots through stem to stomata of leaves.
