⦿ Transpiration in Plants.

→ Transpiration is the evaporation of water vapour from the internal tissues of living plants through their leaves.

⦿ Types of Transpiration

→ Stomatal Transpiration : Evaporation of water from the leaves, taking place through stomata, is known as Stomatal Transpiration.

→ Cuticular Transpiration: When evaporation of water takes place directly from the surface of the leaves and herbaceous stems, it is known as Cuticular Transpiration.

→ Lenticular and Bark transpiration : When evaporation of water takes place through the lenticels and barks, it is called the lenticular transpiration.

☛ Importance of Transpiration

● Transpiration leads to the concentration of sap in the plant cell, which helps in osmosis.
● It has a cooling effect on the plant.
● Salt moves upward in the plant due to transpiration.
● Through Transpiration, plants expel put excess water absorbed by the roots.

☛ Harmful effects of Transpiration.

● Excessive transpiration may cause wilting and death of the plant.
● Wastage of Energy Is when Energy Is used to draw water from Soil but 80% of water is wasted through transpiration.
● Abscisic acid is a acid which promotes Abscission of leaves, flowers etc in Plants.
● Growth of the plants Is affected due to Transpiration.
