In the first Carnatic War the British captured the french ships and Pondicherry was under threat.The French in turn led by Dupleix,French governor of Pondicherry,attacked the British settlement in Fort St.George in Madras.The nawab of Carnatic supported the British.The treaty of Aix La Chappelle ( 1748 ) ended the first Carnatic War.Through this treaty , The French got Louisburg region in North America and the British got back Madras.
