Given : ABC and PQR are equilateral triangles. AB = 3 PQ.

Ar( ΔABC) = 18 cm²

To Find :  Ar (ΔPQR)

Solution:

ABC and PQR are equilateral triangles

Equilateral triangle has all sides equal

All equilateral triangles are similar to each other

For similar triangle ratio of  area of  triangles = ( ratio of corresponding sides)²

=>  Ar (ΔPQR)  / Ar( ΔABC)    =(PQ/AB)²

AB = 3 PQ

=> PQ/AB   = 1/3

=>   Ar (ΔPQR)  / 18    = (1/3)²

=>  Ar (ΔPQR) = 18/9

=> Ar (ΔPQR) = 2  cm²

Ar (ΔPQR) = 2  cm²
