Triangle abc, de parallel to bc. If ad=5cm,bd=7cm and ac=18cm,find the length of ae

since,abc & ade are similar triangles...

Therefore,

ab/ad=ac/ae

(ad+bd)/ad=ac/ae. .....(1)

now, putting values of ad,bd & ac in (1)

=> {(5+7)/5}={18/ae}

=> ae =(18x5)/12

i.e;

ae=7.5 cm.
