triangle ABC is an enlargement of triangle QRS. IF THE AREA OF abc IS 36 square centimeters and the area of PQR is 9 square centimeters, what is the scale factor of this enlargement

we have to check the ratio of their sides

use the similarity concept in triangles

the relationship between area and sides

let say PQR and ABC are similar then

(area of PQR/area of ABC) =(PQ) ^2/AB^2

like that so

9/36==(PQ) ^2/AB^2

PQ/AB= 3/6=1/2

so that means the sides are doubled so scale factor is 2
