Triangle ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB=AC. Side BA is produced to D such that AD=AB. Show that angle BCD is an right angle

AB = AC

\angleACB = \angleABC ............ 1.

AB = AD

•°• AC = AD

In ADC, we have

AD = AC

\angleACD = \angleADC........... 2.

Adding (1) and (2), we have

\angleACB + \angleACD = \angleABC + \angleADC

\implies\angleBAC = \angleABC + \angleADC

Now, in BCD, we have

\angleBCD + \angleABC + \angleADC = 180°.

\implies\angleBCD + \angleBCD = 180°.

\implies2\angleBCD= 180°.

\implies\angleBCD = 90°.
