In triangle ABC

Since AB=AC

Therefore B=C=x

because angles opposite to equal sides are equal

Using angle sum property in TRIANGLE ABC

A+B+C=180°

40°+x+x=180°

40°+2x=180°

2x=180°-40°

2x=140°

x=140°÷2

=70°

Therefore C=70°
