the altitude, the side AC and half the side BC form a right angled triangle
Let x be the length of half of side BC
{x}^{2}  +  {5}^{2}  =  {13}^{2}  \\ therefore \:  {x}^{2}  =  {13}^{2}  -  {5}^{2}  \\  {x}^{2}  = 169 - 25 = 144  \: which \: is \: the \: square \: of \: 12 \\ x = 12
Therefore BC= 2x
So BC=24cm
