Given:

triangle abc ~ triangle def

ab:de=5:3

To find:

The Length of the df if the ac=12 units

Solution:

We have given similar triangles in which the ratio of the respective sides of the similar triangles are always proportional to each other

Which is given by:

  • \frac{ab}{de} = \frac{bc}{ef}  =\frac{ac}{df}

we have given the ratio of one of the sides of the triangle which is

  • \frac{ab}{de} = \frac{5}{3}

and as per the question we have to find the value of the length of the df side of the triangle def

which can be obtained by the given ratio that is

  • \frac{ab}{de} =\frac{ac}{df}
  • \frac{5}{3} = \frac{12}{df}
  • df = \frac{12.3}{5}
  • df = \frac{36}{5}
  • df = 7.2 units

Hence the length of the df of the triangle def is 7.2 units.
