Given : ΔDEF

∠DFE = 90°

∠FDE = 42°

DE = 7.2

EF = d

To Find :  value of d to the nearest hundredth

Solution:

ΔDEF

∠DFE = 90°

Hence right angled triangle

Tan ∠FDE  =  EF/DE

=> Tan  42° =  d/7.2

=> d = 7.2 *  Tan  42°

=> d = 7.2 * 0.9

=> d = 6.48

value of d to the nearest hundredth  = 6.48
