Hey!
The tribal people of Amazon Basin practice SHIFTING agriculture.
● What is Shifting Agriculture?
In this type of agriculture, huge number of trees are being cut down. Then these are burnt and the ashes are mixed with the soil to make it more fertile. The tribal people cultivate their crops here. After 3-4 years when the land becomes less fertile, they abandon the forest and move to another area where the same procedure is followed. This type of agriculture is generally done in areas with heavy rainfall so that the regeneration of forests is quick enough. Shifting agriculture is also known as slash and burn agriculture.
Hope this helps you!
