Answer17/15

Step-by-step explanation:

sec¤= 17/8

so cos¤= 8/17

sin¤ =√(1-cos^2¤)

= √(1-64/289)

=√(289-64)/289

=√225/289

(+-)15/17

so cosec ¤= 17/15

you said cosec¤= 1/2

that means sin¤=2 it never happens since the range of sin is -1 to 1

Question:-

If sec θ = 17/8 and θ lies in the first quadrant then find the value of Cosec θ.

Answer:-

Given:

sec θ = 17/8

θ lies in first quadrant.

i.e., 0° < θ < 90°

We know that,

sec θ = Hypotenuse/Adjacent side

So,

  • 17 = Hypotenuse
  • 8 = Adjacent side.

By Pythagoras Theorem,

(Hypotenuse)² = (Opposite side)² + (Adjacent side)²

So,

⟶ (17)² = (Opposite side)² + (8)²

⟶ 289 - 64 = (Opposite side)²

⟶ 225 = (Opposite side)²

⟶ 15 = Opposite side

Now,

Cosec θ = Hypotenuse/Opposite side

⟶ Cosec θ = 17/15

The value of Cosec θ is 17/15.
