sin 30° = cos(40+x)

Since we know that cos(90-A) = sinA

So we can write

cos(90-30) = cos(40+x)

Comparing both sides

60 = 40 +X

x= 20°

Hope it helps you

cos(40+x)=sin30

cos(40+x)=sin(90-60)

cos(40+x)=cos60

cos will get cancelled from both sides

40+x=60

x=60-40

x=20.
