Tropilidine is a seven-membered ring compound

Explanation:

The seven-membered ring compounds tropilidine and tropone were shown to  be bacteriostatic and bactericidal for a wide range of bacterial species.

  • Tropilidine (1,3,5-cycloheptatriene; C₇H,)  and tropone (2,4,6-cycloheptatriene-1-one;  C₇H, O) are compounds with a seven-membered  ring system.
  • Although tropilidine and tropone do  not seem to occur naturally, they are chemically  related to and may be intermediates in the  synthesis of a group of naturally occurring  compounds called the tropolones, which are  found in the Cupressaceae, Penicillium, and  Liliaceae.
