first of all we find area of square.

side of square = 6cm

area of square =side ×side

6×6=36cm^2

now,question say the area of triangle is one third of area of square.

according to question,

36×1/3=12cm^2

there FD is the base of triangle ADF

let the base =x cm

area of triangle =1/2×b×h,height is 6cm

1/2×b×6=12cm^2

3b=12

b=12/3=4cm

now length of FD is 4cm.
