(a) -17 + 15 = 15 +(-17) is True.

Answer =》-2

(b)-64-(+64) = 0 is False.

Answer =》-64 - 64 = -128.

(c) [(-17) + 8] + 20 = [8 + (-17)] + 20 is False.

Answer =》 [17 - 8] + 20 = [8- 17] + 20.

(d) (-54) + 0 = 0 is False.

Answer =》 54 - 0 = 54.

Concept-

Calculate both LHS and RHS separately, if LHS is equal to RHS , then it is true , and if LHS is not equal to RHS ,then it is false.

Given-

(a) -17+15=15+(-17)

(b) -64-(+64)=0

(c) [(-17)+8]+20=[8+(-17)]+20

(d) (-54)+0=0

Find-

Find whether the given parts are true or false-

(a)   -17+15=15+(-17)

(b)   -64-(+64)=0

(c)    [(-17)+8]+20=[8+(-17)]+20

(d)    (-54)+0=0

Solution-

(a) -17+15=15+(-17)

LHS = -17 + 15 = -2

RHS = 15 + (-17) = 15 - 17 = -2

Hence, LHS = RHS

So, -17+15=15+(-17)  is true.

(b) -64-(+64)=0

LHS = -64 - (+64) = - 64 -64 = - 128

RHS = 0

Hence, LHS ≠ RHS

So, -64-(+64)=0 is false.

(c)  [(-17)+8]+20=[8+(-17)]+20

LHS =  [(-17)+8]+20 = - 17 + 8 + 20 = - 9 + 20 = 11

RHS = [8+(-17)]+20] = 8 - 17 + 20 = -9 + 20 = 11

Hence, LHS = RHS

So, [(-17)+8]+20=[8+(-17)]+20 is true.

(d) (-54)+0=0

LHS = - 54 + 0 = -54

RHS = 0

Hence, LHS ≠ RHS

So, (-54)+0=0 is false.

Therefore, (a), (c) are true and (b) , (d) are false.
