True or false - H2SO4 + Cu gives CuSO4 + H2

Hydrogen is more reactive than copper so I don't understand how the above statement is true.

Answer:

TRUE

Explanation:

IT'S NOT HYDROGEN, IT IS SULPHURIC ACID.

SO IF ANY METAL REACTS WITH ACID IT GIVES SALT OF METAL AND HYDROGEN.

METAL+DILUTE ACID=SALT+HYDROGEN

BUT COPPER REACTS WITH CONCENTRATED SULPHURIC ACID NOT DILUTED SULPHURIC ACID

EXTRA INFORMATION

Copper does not react with dilute sulphuric acid. So, no reaction takes place when dilute sulphuric acid is poured on a copper plate. But when concentrated sulphuric acid is poured over copper plate, effervescence is observed. This happens because of formation of hydrogen gas.

Cu + H2SO4 → CuSO4 + H2
