Given,

Main equation : 2x+3y = 23

The solutions are 4 and a.

To find,

To check that the value of a is 5 or not.

Solution,

We can easily solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Now, 4 cannot be value of y, because 3y will become even and 2x is definitely even. And we know that sum of two even numbers is always an even number. Here, the final result is odd (ie. 23).

So, the value of x will be 4 in this case.

(2×4)+3y = 23

8+3y = 23

3y = 23-8

3y = 15

y = 5

The another solution = a = 5

Hence, it is true that the value of 'a' is 5

SOLUTION

TO CHECK

True / False below statement :

(4,a) is the solution of the equation 2x + 3y = 23 then a = 5

EVALUATION

Here the given equation is

2x + 3y = 23

If (4,a) is the solution of the equation 2x + 3y = 23 then (4,a) must satisfy the equation

 \sf{ \implies \: (2 \times 4) + (3 \times a) = 23}

 \sf{ \implies \:8 + 3 a= 23}

 \sf{ \implies \:3 a= 15}

 \sf{ \implies \:a= 5}

So the value of a = 5

Hence the statement is TRUE
