write given eqn in slope intercept form .

y=(7/24)x+24

Any line perpendicular to this line will

have slope = 1/m= -24/7

given point(-2,4)

Use the general point-slope formula:

y-4/x-(-2) = -24/7

y=(-24/7)x -4/5

Solve the equations to find their intersection:

24y=7x +10

24x+7y = -28/5

This is very tough- solve for x and y which

gives you the point on the given line

Now you have 2 points P and Q on the perpendicular line

Use the length equation:

distance formula
