Let the percentage of carbon = x

percentage of hydrogen = x/6

percentage of oxygen = x/1.5 = 2x/3
(because carbon is 1.5 times oxygen)

sum of percentage of C, H and O = 100

x + \frac{x}{6} + \frac{2x}{3} = 100 \\ \\ \frac{6x + x + 4x}{6} = 100 \\ \\ \frac{11x}{6} = 100

x = 100 \times \frac{6}{11} \\ \\ x = 54.55

So percentage of carbon = 54.55%

percentage of hydrogen = 54.55/6 = 9.09%

percentage of oxygen = 54.55×2/3 =36.37%

If we take a 100g sample of the compound,

mass of carbon in it = 54.55g
number of C atoms = 54.55/12 = 4.5

mass of hydrogen in it = 9.09g
number of H atoms = 9.09/1 = 9

mass of oxygen in it = 36.37g
number of H atoms = 36.37/16 = 2.25

Ratio of Atoms in compound:
C:H:O = 4.5 : 9 : 2.25 = 18: 36: 9

Simplest formula of the compound is C_{18}H_{36}O_9
