Let :

Three consecutive odd number be

  • 2x + 1
  • 2x + 3
  • 2x + 5

✪ 2x + 1 .....is general representation of odd number

✪ each consecutive odd number differ by 2, so next will be 2x+3 & 2x+5

Given :

3× Sum of three consecutive number = 5 + 8×(middle term)

To find :

Three consecutive odd number

Solution :

➠3× { (2x+1) + (2x+3) + (2x+5) } = 5 + 8(2x+3)

➠ 3×(6x + 9) = 5 + 16x + 25

➠ 18x + 27 = 16x + 29

➠ 18x - 16x = 29 -27

➠ 2x = 2

➠ x = 2/2 = 1

✪ First number = 2x+1

➠ First number = 2(1) + 1 = 2-1

First number = 3

✪ Second number = 2x + 3

➠ Second number = 2(1) + 3 = 2+3

Second number = 5

✪ Third number = 2x + 5

➠ Third number = 2(1) + 5 = 2+5

Third number = 7
