according to the law of conservation of mass mass can neither be created not destroyed in a chemical reaction the total mass of reactants is equal to the total mass of products

so let mass of residue be x

8.4+20= 4.4+x

28.4=4.4+x

28.4-4.4=x

24=x

mass of residue is 24 g
