Despite of being a bad conductor of electricity, tungsten is used in bulbs.

Explanation:

  • Tungsten is a metal which doesn't conduct electricity at normal condition. Due to this reason, they are called bad conductors of electricity.
  • Actually, at certain specific condition such as high temperature, tungsten conducts electricity and its resistivity value is 5.20\times10^{-8}.
  • When the filament of the bulb which is made of tungsten is heated it due to the high temperature it conducts electricity.
  • Due to the high melting point, high temperature doesn't have any adverse effect on it.
  • Due to these characteristics of tungsten, despite being bad conductors of electricity, it is used in bulbs.
