Tungsten has a very high melting point (3410 degree Celsius).
Tungsten also conduct electric current very well. Due to its high melting point. It never melt easily even if a very high current go through it. When electric current goes through it, its filament get heated and emit the light.
Tungsten is also a very flexible metal and can be converted into coils. So, tungsten metal is used to make a solenoid type of coil in an electric bulb.
