Turgid weight is taken immediately after taking out of the leaf disc from water.Why?

Explanation:

Process : Usually cut a mid section of the leaf, area approx of 5 cm2, weigh the FW immediately in the growth chamber and then place the leaf section in a 10 ml Falcon tube fully filled with de-ionised water. I place the samples o/n at 4 deg in dark. The next morning I weight for the turgid weight. Here is the problem: some leaves samples appear to NOT TAKE UP water at all, I am wondering is someone has already experienced this problem and could give me some tips
