Indirect/Reported speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.

Example: Sia said,"I have to go to school tomorrow." (Direct)

Sia said that she had to go to school the next day. (Indirect)

In the above example, when writing in reported/indirect form, the sentence changes according to its tense. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'you' changes to 'I', 'yesterday' changes to 'the previous day', 'this' changes to 'that', 'will' changes to 'would' and many other words will have to be made.

The boy told his mother that he wanted to buy some new colours for himself. The mother replied that the previous month she had bought him two new packs of colours. The boy said that he had used them all as he loved drawing and colouring. (Indirect)

Hope it helps :)
