Required Answer:

GiveN Dialogue:

Doctor : What is your problem?

Patient: I am suffering from back pain.

Doctor : You have to reduce your weight.

Move in proper posture also.

Patient: I will try for that.

Direct to Indirect speech:

The doctor asked the patient what was his problem. The patient replied that he was suffering from back pain. The doctor advised him to reduce his weight and to move in proper posture. The patient further replied that he would try for that.

Grammar bites:

In Direct speech, the dialogue of the speaker is enclosed inside inverted commas. So, whay we can say is, It shows the exact words told by the speaker.

Whereas, In the Indirect speech, it is the direct sentence where dialogue is not enclosed. Here, we can't predict thd exact words but it gives only the substance of what the speaker said.

Some, rules we should remember while changing.

  • If reporting verb is in past tense, then main verb is also changed into past tense.
  • If reporting verb is in present/future tense, then there is no change.

And the changes are as follows:

  • Simple present ➝ Simple past.
  • Present continous ➝ Past continous.
  • Present perfect ➝ Past perfect
  • Simple past(sometimes) ➝ Past perfect.

And we are done !!
