Turn the following script into a dialogue. Remove the names at the beginning and add inverted commas (speech marks) and a variety of speech verbs to show who is speaking and in what way, either before or after the speech.
Student: Have you got time to help me with a problem?
Student: I don't understand how to punctuate dialogue. Can you tell me again please?
Teacher: The first thing to remember is that when the speaker changes, you have to show this by starting a new line, the same as when you start a new paragraph.
Student: I understand that part. What I don't get is what you have to put at the end of each of the speeches in the conversation.
Teacher: You put a full stop - if it's not a question or exclamation - unless you are going on to say 'he said' or something like that. Then you put a comma instead of the full stop.
Student: And what about before starting the speech, and inside the speech?
Teacher: If the Sentence has already begun, than you put a comma before opening the inverted commas. The punctuation inside the speech is the same as for any other writing.
Student: Thanks a lot. I think I can do my homework now.
Please anyone change these sentences into direct speech.
