The author- Khushwant Singh and his grandmother moved on to the city. This was the point when the tie between the grandmother and the author loosened. The author went to an English School in a motor bus and hence, the grandmother no longer accompanied him to school. The subjects taught at school was very hard to understand for the grandmother and unlike the time he used to study in the village, she couldn't help him in his studies. The music classes taken in the author's school was a matter of disapproval. She considered music to e the monopoly of harlots and beggars and not meant for the gentlefolk. These incidents caused a turning point in the friendship of Khushwant Singh and his grandmother.

Answer:
A turning point came about with the author’s shift to the city and admission in an English school. Though they shared the same room, the grandmother did not accompany him to school and was disapproving of its academic and recreational curriculum, leading to further distancing.
