Twelve wires each having a resistance of 3 ohm are connected to form a cubical network. A batteryof 10 V and negligible internal resistance is connected accross the diagonally opposite corners of this network. Determine its equivalent and the along each edge of the cube

The equivalent resistance is 2.5 ohms  and  Current drawn = 10/2.5 = 4 A

Explanation:

Given data:

  • Combined Resistance = 3 Ω
  • Voltage across network =  10 V
  • Due to symmetry the resistances are equivalent each other.

(1+1 / 2+1) ohm between the opposite corners of the network. (R/3+R/6+R/3)

So, the equivalent resistance is 2.5 ohms

Current drawn = 10/2.5 = 4 A
