Answer:

twelve years ago

age of X=X-12

age of Y=2.5(Y-12)=2.5Y-12×2.5=2.5Y-30

A/Q

X-12=2.5Y-30

X=2.5Y-18-------(1)

Now,

X+Y=108

2.5Y-18+Y=108

3.5Y=126

Y=126÷3.5

Y=36

also,

putting the value of Y in ek (1),we get

X=2.5Y-18=2.5×36-18=69.5

Now,

age difference between X and Y is

X-Y=69.5-36=33.5
