Step-by-step explanation:

Given Twenty passenger were found in a ticket less bus the sum of squares and S.D found in their pockets were Rs 2000.00 and Rs 6.00 respectively. If the total fine imposed on these passengers is equal to the total amount recovered from them and the fine imposed in uniform. Find the amount each one has to pay as fine.

  • So by using standard deviation formula we have
  • Standar deviation S.D = √∑(xi – μ )^2 / N
  •       We can write this as
  •                       So S.D = √∑x^2/ N – (∑x / N)^2
  •                             6 = √2000 / 20 – (∑x / 20)^2
  •                             6 = √100 – (∑x / 20)^2
  •            Squaring both sides we get
  •                                36 = 100 – (∑x / 20)^2
  •                       So 100 – 36 = (∑x / 20)^2
  •                            (∑x / 20)^2 = 64
  •                   So (∑ x / 20)  = 8
  • Therefore each passenger will have to pay Rs 8 as fine.
