Problem on Age

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let, the present age be x.
  • After 20 years from now, the age will be 4 times as old as present age.
  • ∵ the age will be 4 × x = 4x
  • We can say that the age after 20 years is equals to x + 20
  • Solving the equations
  • x + 20= 4x
  • 20 = 4x- x
  • 3x=20
  • Present age,  x=\frac{20}{3}  =6\frac{2}{3}
  • ∴ the present age is 6 years and \frac{2}{3} of a year.
  • \frac{2}{3} of a year is equals to 8 months

The present age is 6 years and 8 months.
