Hi ,
convert the given word problem into algebraic equation.
let the number = x
twice the number = 2x
two more than the the number = x + 2
according to the problem,
Twice a number increased by the product of 2 more than that number and 3 is equal to 21
2x + (x+2 )3 = 21
⇒ 2x + 3x +6 = 21
⇒ 5x = 21 - 6
⇒ 5x = 15
⇒ x = 15 / 5
∴ x = 3
The required number = x = 3
I hope this helps you.
