SOLUTION

GIVEN

Twice the product of zeroes of the polynomial 23x² - 26x + 161 is 14p

TO DETERMINE

The value of p

EVALUATION

Here the given polynomial is

23x² - 26x + 161

Comparing with the general polynomial

ax² + bx + c we get

a = 23 , b = - 26 , c = 161

Product of the Zeros

= c/a

= 161/23

= 7

So by the given condition

2 × 7 = 14p

⇒ 14 = 14p

⇒ 14p = 14

⇒ p = 1

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required value of p = 1
