Here is the solution:

----------------------------------------

Let the smaller number be x

The other number is (x + 2)

Form the equation:

2x -7 =  x + 2

x = 9

Find the numbers:

smaller number = x = 9

larger number = x + 2 = 11

Answer: The two numbers are 9 and 11
