Two adjacent sides of a parallelogram are 9 cm and 8 cm if one of its diagonal is 13 cm.

To find : The area of parallelogram.

solution : area of triangle of sides 9cm, 8cm and 13cm

s = (9cm + 8cm + 13cm)/2 = 15cm

using formula, A = √{s(s - a)(s - b)(s - c)}

so area of triangle = √{15(15 - 13)(15 - 9)(15 - 8)}

= √{15 × 2 × 6 × 7}

= 6√(35) cm²

The area of parallelogram = 2 × area of triangle

= 2 × 6√(35)

= 12√(35) cm²
