QUESTION ----- Two and a half litres of paint is used to cover 725 Sq m of area (i)how much will require to paint 2001 Sq m of area? (ii) how much area in Sq m can be covered from 4.75 litres of paint ?

ANSWER
____________________________

Using Proportionality Method,

725 m^2 ------------> 2.5
2001 m^2 ----------> x

725 : 2.5 :: 2001 : x

PRODUCT OF MEANS = PRODUCT OF EXTREMES

2.5 × 2001 = 725x
2.5 × 2001 / 725 = x

=> x = 6.9 L

ANSWER (I) 6.9 L
______________________________

(ii) USING PROPORTIONALITY METHOD,

725 : 2.5 :: x : 4.75

PRODUCT OF MEANS = PRODUCT OF EXTREMES

2.5x = 725 × 4.75

x = 725 × 4.75 / 2.5

=> x = 1377.5 m^2

ANSWER (ii) = 1377.5 m^2
