Therefore, y = 2x – 3 …I

Given two angles are complementary.

x + y = 180°

⇒ x + (2x – 3) = 180

⇒ 3x - 3 = 180

⇒ 3x = 180 + 3

⇒ 3x = 183

⇒ x = 61°

Substitute x = 61 in I

y = 61× 2 – 3 = 122 – 3 = 119°

Therefore, measure of larger angle is 119° and the measure of the smaller angle is 61°
