Question-

Two angles are complementary. The larger angle is 3° less than twice the measure of the smaller angle. Find the measure of each angle.

Solution-

we know that,

Complementary angles are those pair of angles whose sum is 90 degrees.

Let x be larger angle and y be the smaller angle.

A/Q,

x = 2y - 3.

We know that x + y = 90,

Substituting we get,

2y - 3 + y = 90

3y = 93

y = 31°.

so,

x = 2y - 3

x = 2 (31) - 3

x = 59°.

 \boxed {\purple{x = 59 \degree  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: and \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  y = 31 \degree}}
