Answer:

4.4 Sec

Step-by-step explanation:

length of first ant= 1 cm or 10 mm

length of second ant = 1.2 cm or 12 mm

so total distance which need to be covered is 22 mm.

Now speed is 2 mm/sec and 3 mm/sec (Opposite direction), So effective or respective speed will be 5 mm/sec.

Total time to cross eachother = 22/5 sec, which is 4.4 sec

Given : two ants of length 1 and 1.2 cm crawl in opposite directions with the average speed 2 and 3 mm per second respectively .

To Find : How many seconds will they take to cross each other

Solution:

Lengths are 1  cm and  1.2 cm

1 cm = 10 mm

1.2 cm = 12 mm

Total Distance to be covered = 10 + 12 = 22 mm

Moving towards each other hence speed will be added

so Speed =2 + 3 = 5 mm / s

Time = Distance  / Speed

=> Time  = 22/5

=> Time = 4.4  secs

Hence  4.4 secs will be taken to cross each other.
