Let me help you with this one.
Suppose, two balls A and B  of are of masses 5 kg and 10 kg respectively. When they collide with a constant velocity on a smooth horizontal surface, Both the balls move in the opposite direction after the collision. However the velocity with which the balls move backward does not remain constant as before. The reason is that ball B exerts more force on ball A as it is greater in mass. Hence, more energy is transferred from ball B to A. Thus ball A will move back with more speed as compared to ball B.
