Two balls of different masses are thrown vertically upward with same speed which one will pass the point of projection in their downward journey with greater speed

Both of them will reach the same height.

Let the initial speed of any mass is u. v is the final velocity of it. H is height attained by the mass. And g is the gravitational force of earth.

Now, the final velocity v = 0 at its maximum height (H).

so, from the equation-

v² = u² - 2gH

(as g is in the opposite direction of the velocity, it is taken as negative, g=9.8 m/s²)

H = (u²/2g) as v = 0

i.e. height attained by the body is independent of the mass and depends on the initial speed of the bodies and value of g. So, if you throw two bodies vertically with the same initial speed, they will reach the same height.
